Timesys Launches Products, Support and Services for i.MX 6SoloX

Builds on Heterogeneous Linux/MQX Support for Popular Freescale i.MX 6 Series of Applications Processors

Pittsburgh, Pa. – March 10, 2015 — Timesys Corporation (https://timesys.com), provider of the award-winning LinuxLink suite of embedded Linux tools, announced full support for the Freescale i.MX 6SoloX applications processor is immediately available. Building on Freescale’s experience with heterogeneous multicore processing, Timesys will provide LinuxLink, commercial Yocto Project support, and a wide array of services for the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor.

The i.MX 6SoloX applications processor provides a flexible, secure solution for multimedia, connected home and connected vehicle applications. It is based on an ARM® Cortex®-A9 core and a Cortex-M4 core, enabling it to run a UI-rich OS while still benefitting from fast real-time responsiveness.

The addition of Timesys support for the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor enables developers to approach their project with confidence knowing they have a commercial embedded Linux partner that can take them to market — whether they use Timesys’ free LinuxLink embedded Linux tool suite or Yocto Project-based builds from Freescale. Timesys offers cost-effective and simple annual support agreements direct or through any major distributor, providing developers with the added benefit of having access to the help they need when a problem arises. In addition, Timesys offers a wide range of embedded Linux services around the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor including porting to custom hardware, GUI development with Qt, boot time and power usage optimization, or application development optimized around mixed MQX / embedded Linux heterogeneous OS environments, enabling development teams to rely on Timesys for additional engineering expertise when they need it.

“We believe the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor will be very popular with embedded systems designers,” said Brian Gildon, Vice President of Business Development for Timesys. “It is important for Timesys to have a strong software and services offering as Freescale launches this new device. We can build on our strength of MQX and Linux mixed-environment software systems that started with our support of Freescale’s controller solutions to ensure i.MX 6SoloX application processor customers have a rock solid offering that will help them get their products to market as quickly as possible with a minimal learning curve.”

“We’re excited to see Timesys extend their products, support, and services offering to include the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor,” said Amanda McGregor, i.MX 6 Series Product Manager at Freescale. “Freescale has a long history with Timesys, and their support can help embedded Linux customers navigate the complex software requirements for a powerful device like the i.MX 6SoloX applications processor more effectively than doing it themselves.”
