Wintegra™ selects Timesys® as commercial Linux solutions provider for Wintegra WinPath3 network processor family
Industry-leading open-source based LinuxLink subscription helps Wintegra customers build cost-effective products
Pittsburgh, PA, – March 16, 2010 – Timesys® Corporation (http://www.timesys.com), provider of LinuxLink, the first commercial software development framework for building custom embedded Linux based products, today announced the company has been selected by Wintegra™ as a preferred commercial Linux solutions provider for the WinPath3 network processor. The WinPath3 is Wintegra’s latest addition to its successful WinPath™ processor family, which includes the WinPath2 and WinPath1. With Timesys LinuxLink support already available for the WinPath2 processor, the addition of support for the WinPath3 provides an easy migration path for Wintegra customers who select WinPath3 for their new designs.
As a Wintegra embedded Linux solutions provider, Timesys LinuxLink support for WinPath3 will enable engineers to build custom Linux-based products for a variety of applications in the communications market targeted by the WinPath family. Customers can choose from the latest GNU-based toolchains enabled with uClibc and glibc libraries optimized for the MIPS32R2 instruction set. The initial release for WinPath3 is based on the 2.6.29 Linux kernel which integrates drivers for the reference board peripherals. With LinuxLink, customers can select from hundreds of available packages and middleware when assembling their custom root filesystem. Newer versions of Linux components, including the Linux kernel, toolchain, packages and middleware, will be available in LinuxLink as they become available from the open-source community and from Wintegra.

Wintegra customers benefit from LinuxLink’s award-winning online and desktop-hosted build tools (called Factory). Using the online version of the Factory, customers can assemble custom Linux starting points with their selected application APIs. By allowing users to integrate Wintegra and third-party packages, custom applications and proprietary software, the desktop version of the Factory offers more flexibility than any other Linux build platform. LinuxLink’s update service automatically notifies customers of changes to any of the components used in their project, further adding to the value of a LinuxLink subscription.
Application developers have access to commonly used debugging tools within the Eclipse-based TimeStorm IDE. These tools help customers ensure the quality, reliability and performance of their final product. Customers receive technical support from expert Timesys engineers and have access to a vast suite of documentation.
