Timesys support for Freescale i.MX6 Series  LinuxLink Support for Freescale i.MX 6 Series Applications Processors Expanded

Adding to the already supported Boundary Devices Nitrogen6X, Timesys has expanded its LinuxLink offering for the popular Freescale i.MX 6 Series processor by adding support for the following popular development platforms:

The Freescale i.MX 6 series of processors includes single-, dual- and quad-core families based on the ARM® Cortex™-A9 architecture. With power efficient processing capabilities and support for high-definition video and 3D and 2D graphics, i.MX 6 series processors are ideal for next-generation consumer, industrial and automotive applications.

With support for Linux kernel version 3.0, LinuxLink for Freescale i.MX 6 customers can leverage the high-performance multimedia processing power of the i.MX 6 series processor to design a variety of Rich Human Machine Interface (Rich HMI) applications for the new era of smart devices. LinuxLink users can customize their value-add application by choosing from the hundreds of packages/middleware offered through the award-winning LinuxLink Factory cloud-based and desktop-hosted build tools which facilitate the process of building and integrating a custom Linux platform.

LinuxLink FREE Edition users can quickly and easily build a custom board support package and matching software development kit (BSP/SDK) that enables them to evaluate the hardware capabilities of their i.MX 6 series processor-based development platform — literally on day one.

The commercially supported LinuxLink PRO Edition enables maximum flexibility and customization of the Linux platform, including modification of the root file system from the ground up, use of your own Linux kernel tree and integration of custom applications. And, as with every LinuxLink PRO Edition subscription, customers receive expert enterprise-grade support.

Boot Time Reduction and Fast Boot  Timesys Offers Boot Time Reduction Services

For projects requiring a significant reduction in boot time, Timesys’ Professional Services offering includes both a Boot Time Evaluation Service and a Boot Time Reduction Service. Through our Boot Time Evaluation Service, we are able to analyze your project and provide you with information on where the boot time is being spent as well as make recommendations on how your system boot time can be reduced. Through our Boot Time Reduction Services, we can provide you with a deliverable that is fully tested to meet your quality requirements and enables you to take your product to market knowing you have the support of a trusted commercial Linux vendor.

For those projects requiring extremely fast boot time, Timesys recommends Warp!! — a quick-start solution for embedded Linux that can enable systems to boot as much as 9x* faster.

Warp!! is a licensed product that saves a snapshot image of the system memory while applications are running and the hardware status (contents of register) to a designated hibernation area. By restoring the snapshot image directly when the device is powered on, Warp!! significantly reduces the amount of code and memory access required at boot time.

View a video demo of Warp!! on the Boundary Devices board built to Freescale SABRE Lite design.

If you have a project you’d like to discuss, want more information about our Boot Time Reduction offering or if you’d like to learn more about Warp!!, fill out our online form, contact sales@timesys.com or call us at 1.866.392.4897 (toll-free) or +1.412.232.3250.
