Timesys Announces Embedded Linux Support for Freescale MPC8572 ProcessorsIntegrated Support for Symmetric Multiprocessing (SMP) Pittsburgh, PA – April 8, 2008 -- Timesys Corporation a premier provider of embedded Linux software solutions, today announced LinuxLink support for the Freescale MPC8572 PowerQUICC III multi-core processor. LinuxLink for the MPC8572 includes integrated support for symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), which balances the tasks performed by the multiple processing cores to improve performance. With this LinuxLink, subscribers will get web-based access to a Linux platform that has been configured to operate in SMP mode for the MPC8572, including a 2.6.23 Linux kernel, toolchain and hundreds of pre-compiled packages.
