Atmel ARM AT91SAM9260
The LinuxLink software distribution model enables the usage of the Atmel SAM9260 LinuxLink for development targeting all designs based on Atmel AT91SAM9260 processor. The AT91SAM9260 supports deterministic, real-time operation, offers supervisory functions, and has third-party support comparable to that for 8-bit microcontrollers.
Processor derivatives enabled:
The Atmel SAM9260 LinuxLink can also be used as a starting point for Linux development for designs based on any of the processors from the ARM9E family.
Reference boards/OEM boards enabled:
The Atmel SAM9260 LinuxLink can also be used as a starting point for Linux development for designs derived from the AT91SAM9260-EK Evaluation Kit from Atmel.
Notes:
Complete peripheral support for Atmel AT91SAM9260 derived integrated processors, or board support for other reference designs, might need to be sourced from manufacturers of the respective processors or reference boards.
Processor Overview
The AT91SAM9260 is based on the ARM926EJ-S processor with fast ROM and RAM memories. It supports a wide range of peripherals, including Ethernet MAC, USB Full Speed for Host and Device, and Image Sensor. It also integrates several standard peripherals, such as the USART, SPI, TWI, Timer Counters, Synchronous Serial Controller, ADC, and MultiMedia Card Interface.
The AT91SAM9260 operates at 200 MIPS with an 180MHz clock. It includes an 8KB instruction cache and an 8KB data cache. It is available in a 217-ball LFBGA RoHS-compliant package and a 208-pin Green QFP package. It uses a robust system controller for efficient system management, which includes reset and shutdown controllers, clock management, advanced interrupt controller (AIC), debug unit (DBGU), periodic interval timer, watchdog timer and a real-time timer.
