Silicon Turnkey Express selects Timesys’ LinuxLink as default Linux environment for ADS512102 platform

Best out-of-the-box Linux experience with full development cycle support

Pittsburgh, PA, USA – June 15, 2009 – Timesys Corporation (https://timesys.com), a premier provider of embedded Linux software solutions, today announced it has been selected by Silicon Turnkey Express (STx) as their Linux partner in enabling and supporting open source Linux for their ADS512102 board.

The default Linux image installed on the ADS512102 board was developed using Timesys’ award-winning LinuxLink software development framework. The intuitive and user-friendly software development framework allows customers to realize the benefits of working with open-source software while minimizing the quality risks and schedule compromises that are typically associated with “Roll Your Own” Linux projects. The pre-installed Linux solution provides an outstanding out-of-the-box experience for users and showcases platform capabilities such as DVI video output, audio, network connectivity and flash storage support.

Each STx ADS512102 kit comes with a Timesys Development Center CD, which helps users to get started with the board. The CD introduces the LinuxLink framework by providing information on how LinuxLink helps in the process of building a custom embedded product that is based on open-source Linux code. The CD also explains the concept of LinuxLink “starting-points,” which enable customers to build their custom images by starting from a tested and proven reference platform.

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Timesys,” said Les Hantak, Vice President of Marketing at Silicon Turnkey Express. “Together, we provide an outstanding out-of-the-box experience for our customers, while offering commercial open-source Linux support and expertise via expert Timesys engineers. Our customers can now easily build a complete embedded Linux product based on the ADS512102 design and leverage the benefits of all the Linux features provided by the Timesys environment.”

The attractively priced LinuxLink framework has been adopted by customers worldwide. The framework allows users to choose from Timesys’ rich repository of open source packages and then easily integrate third-party proprietary software. Package categories include multimedia, networking, storage, security, industrial and more. LinuxLink includes several recent versions of the Linux kernel, providing users with the flexibility to choose the version most suitable for their product. LinuxLink’s update service automatically notifies customers of changes to any of the components used in their project. Customers receive technical support from expert Timesys engineers and have access to a vast suite of documentation.

“Through our partnership with STx we offer a well-integrated solution for ADS512102 users,” said Charlie Ashton, Vice President of Business Development at Timesys. “We also support customers in the process of building custom Linux systems for a wide range of markets.”

For a limited time, developers can obtain free trial access to LinuxLink, to quickly configure, build and evaluate embedded Linux on MPC5121 processors by registering at https://timesys.com/register.
