Timesys’ security and BSP lifecycle maintenance expertise enables medical device manufacturer to XXXXXXXX

The Challenge

A leading manufacturer of medical devices was faced with the constant challenge of keeping its device software up to date and secure throughout their lifecycle. The manufacturer had to meet Federal quality system regulations (QSRs) which require the company address all risks, including cybersecurity risks. Since the manufacturer’s customers were also faced with strict information security requirements, the company wanted its customers to be assured they were deploying secure medical devices and that the devices would stay secure throughout their deployment.

The medical device manufacturer’s product line was based on NXP’s i.MX 6 processor series and built with an Advantech Yocto BSP. For the manufacturer’s product line to remain updated and secure, the company’s engineering team would need to continuously monitor and analyze/assess the severity of vulnerabilities affecting any of the software components used in its product line, monitor the availability of patches and updates, and then locate and apply the fixes. However, the manufacturer wanted to dedicate its engineering resources to developing its next-generation product and needed to find a reliable engineering team to provide managed BSP maintenance.

The manufacturer engaged with Timesys to leverage Timesys’ expertise in embedded software security and Linux BSP development and maintenance.
