Timesys Management Team
Atul Bansal, CEO, oversees the overall strategic direction of Timesys which provides embedded Linux software, tools, support, services and training to developers worldwide. A pioneer and industry leader in embedded Linux, Timesys’ product and services have been used across many industries including telecommunications, industrial control/process automation, medical, automotive, military/aerospace and consumer. Under Bansal’s leadership, Timesys has: developed its fourth-generation embedded Linux development tool; forged new distribution partnerships in the US, Europe, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and India; and built strong alliances with key semiconductor companies. He joined Timesys as CEO in 2007.
Prior to Timesys, Bansal co-founded Laurel Networks (acquired by ECI Telecom) in 1999, where he led the company’s growth as president/CEO and was Chairman of the Board. The company spearheaded the development of service edge routers and delivered efficient, feature-rich and scalable services over the IP infrastructure. After the acquisition, Bansal became COO of the Data Networking Division within ECI Telecom, a global provider of networking infrastructure equipment, solutions and services.
Before Laurel Networks, he worked at FORE Systems (acquired by Marconi / Ericsson) for five years. At FORE Systems, Bansal held top executive positions including president of the Network Control Technology division, an IP routing technology subsidiary; and product group director of the company’s multilayer Ethernet switching division. He played a key role in defining FORE System’s strategy for the integration of internetworking technology with ATM. Bansal joined FORE Systems in 1995.
Before that, he held engineering and technical management positions for router products at Digital Equipment Corporation (acquired by Compaq) from 1988-1995.
Bansal has received the following honors and recognition:

He is a board member and past-president of TiE Pittsburgh, non-profit network of entrepreneurs, corporate executives and senior professionals dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship in the Pittsburgh region; past board member of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, an organization that is the voice of Pittsburgh’s thriving technology industry; board member of Silk Screen, a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote cross-cultural awareness and diversity appreciation of Asian culture through the arts; and board member of the Kanpur Institute of Technology.
Bansal earned a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering (1989) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India; a M.S degree in Chemical Engineering (1987) from the University of Rhode Island; and M.S. Degree in Computer Science (1984) from the University of Rhode Island. He enjoys golf, reading and traveling.
Al Feczko, Vice President of Sales and Field Engineering, is responsible for helping all of Timesys’ customers and partners achieve maximum benefit from the use and deployment of Timesys products and technology. Prior to joining Timesys, he held a variety of increasingly responsible roles in project engineering and management of embedded real-time control systems in the process automation/control and defense industries. He received his MS in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University and his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame.
Brian Gildon, Vice President of Business Development, has had a long technical and business career in embedded software, with a background in software start ups. With responsibility for driving key business relationships for Timesys, Brian has held senior positions in technical marketing and business development and was responsible for a number of product portfolios critical to the acquisition of a number of software companies in the embedded systems industry. He holds a BS in Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics from the University of Texas at Austin.
Maciej Halasz, Vice President of Technology, has 13+ years of experience in embedded computing with a focus on embedded Linux and real-time systems. He is the technical lead and creator of a number of Timesys offered tools and products, the creator of Timesys University embedded Linux workshops, and he is the co-host of LinuxLink Radio. Throughout his career, Maciej has authored numerous embedded Linux and industry articles. Maciej holds a master’s degree in Computer Science from ENST de Bretagne, France, a master’s degree in Telecommunication Systems from Poznan University of Technology, Poland, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.
Justin Waters, Director of Engineering, is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations of the engineering department at Timesys. He manages the engineering team and guides the implementation of the various internal and Professional Services projects. Justin received his BSE in Computer Engineering from Case Western Reserve University.
Theresa Kisha, Director of Marketing is responsible for the execution of Timesys’ marketing strategy and positioning including its go-to-market and product strategies. Theresa brings more than 15 years B2B and B2C marketing and communications experience to Timesys. Prior to joining Timesys, she held account and project management roles for clients in innovative technology industries that included precision printed circuit boards, microscopy and nanotechnology, and audio and video conferencing. Theresa’s experience also includes Fisher Scientific where she managed the direct marketing creative team and was responsible for enforcing the consistent delivery of the company’s brand in the chemicals, life sciences, safety, healthcare and education markets. Theresa holds a BS in Marketing from Duquesne University.
