Dr. Rakesh Thapar Joins Timesys as Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director of 4ES Technologies
Pittsburgh, Pa. – June 8, 2016 — Timesys Corporation (https://timesys.com), industry pioneer and provider of the award-winning LinuxLink suite of embedded Linux development tools, today announced that Dr. Rakesh Thapar has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer, and as Managing Director of 4ES Technologies, India, a Timesys Company. As CTO, Thapar will play a key role in shaping Timesys’ technology solution strategy as the company embarks on its next phase of growth and leadership across embedded software and associated mobile platform and application development.
With more than 35 years of industry experience working in software and hardware product development intertwined with teaching and academia, Thapar brings an extensive record of driving corporate and technology strategy as well as innovation and effective management of product development. Before joining Timesys, Thapar worked at Honeywell where he was the Senior Director & Global Head of R&D for Workflow Solutions Software in the S&PS SBU. He was responsible for developing mobile device-based (Android™, Windows® operating system, iOS) workflow solutions that enabled improved productivity and accuracy in verticals that included distribution centers, transportation and logistics, maintenance and inspection, healthcare and retail. Prior to that, Thapar held the role of Vice President of Engineering at Vocollect (acquired by Honeywell via Intermec), held senior management roles and a leadership role with Network Appliance Inc. and FORE Systems (acquired by Marconi), was VP Engineering at Padcom and at Haley Systems, and was CEO of Pradeep Digitek, India.

Augmenting his business career, Thapar has been an adjunct faculty member since 2005 with Heinz College (MISM) at Carnegie Mellon University where he also served as Assistant Dean in 2004. He helped establish ATM Interoperability Lab (IOL) at University of New Hampshire. Previously, he was an Associate Professor for Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Roorkee (IIT-Roorkee), India and an adjunct faculty member with Boston University and Northeastern.
